Analysis of speculative trends in food prices in Colombia

Since the onset of the 2019 pandemic,the basic products in the Colombian family basket experienced significant historical variations. In 2022, the increase inpotato prices contributed 19.52% to the total variation of the Consumer Price Index (CPI)in Colombia. This article analyzes whether these variations are partly due to speculative behavior in potato prices since the beginningof the Covid19 pandemic.
